One North East

Bourton Group, 2003

Productivity and Supply Chain Improvement - Disseminating Best Practice

Summary

One North East, the Regional Development Agency for NE England, has earned a leading reputation for supporting improvement in the productivity and competitiveness of manufacturing companies in its region. In concert with a number of the leading companies in the region, including Nissan, Thyssen Krup and BAE Systems, the North East Productivity Alliance (NEPA) was established to offer support and training and disseminate best practice throughout regional companies.

As well as having its own full time improvement engineers, NEPA utilises external consultants to provide specialist support to companies with which it is working. The primary focus is on ensuring the transfer of skills and knowledge to the client company and its staff, as well as tacking the immediate issue identified. Bourton Group were successful in securing a framework contract in 2003 (and won a contract extension in 2006) to provide this specialist support to NEPA.
